PRESS RELEASE

Outstanding PID test performance of Phono Solar PV panels, conducted by Japan’s Chemitox Laboratory

2014-10-08

Recently, Phono Solar, the global-leader of new energy solutions and products, announced outstanding performance of its PV panels in the PID (Potential Induced Degradation) test, conducted by Japan’s Chemitox Laboratory.

With the globally increasing scale of photovoltaic power plants, used in different locations and in different climates, issues like low capacity power generation or reduced power generation have been raised. In particular, in hot and humid environments the PID phenomenon in panels has caused widespread concern. PID can lead to serious power reductions, which not only affects the total power output of the plant, eventually it can lead to the loss of investment in affected PV power plants. Therefore, testing the PID performance of PV panels is of vital importance.

Japan’s Chemitox laboratory is a well-known professional test organization with nearly 40-years’ experience. During the photovoltaic PID test, the modules were tested in a closed environment and exposed to temperatures of 60℃ and relative humidity of 85%. In addition, a potential of 1,000 volts was applied to a water film covering the surface of the modules. After 96 hours the maximum power to the module before and after the test are compared. According to the test report issued by Chemitox, the Phono Solar Monocrystalline silicon modules showed zero attenuation and only 1.6% power attenuation for the Polycrystalline silicon module.

These test results show that Phono Solar PV panels can be applied to all kinds of Japanese photovoltaic projects, in particularly coastal areas due their outstanding PID performance and optimal power generation performance in high humidity environments.

Yuan Quan, Phono Solar Marketing Manager said: “the excellent performance of Phono Solar PV modules in the PID test is a testament to our commitment to understand the market requirements and continuously pursuing high quality and value for customers.”

At 19 September 2014, SUMEC, an important member of SINOMACH, state-owned enterprise of China and one of the Fortune Global 500 enterprises, established a new branch in Japan and has entered the Japanese market with Phono Solar new energy products. The companies’ background and the outstanding test results of the Cheminox’ PID test warrant high quality products and reassurance for end users. In addition, the good performance further embodies Phono Solar’s core values “stabilization, reliability and innovation”.
